I’d like to report on Daisuke Matsuzaka today. Last year much to the regret of his Japanese fans he didn’t do much to help the Red Sox attain their World Series Championship. This year may be a different story. Although the Red Sox are currently behind the Tampa Bay Rays, the team that finished in last place last year, Daisuke is pitching up a storm. He’s got a 13 and 2 record so far. He could very well end up a 20 game winner this season. Bravo Daisuke. The Red Sox owners maybe feel a lot better with their 50 million dollar investment this year than last year.

So what do you think about the Red Sox they certainly are playing their asses off aren’t they? Even Daisuke pitched 5 (or was it 6) shutout innings of baseball. One more game and the Sox will have won the World Series. But is it actually the World Series?
I sometimes wonder about that. Of course I can understand the World Cup. Every country has a chance to win in that competition. Then there is the Japan Series. That’s also understandable It’s a series of Japanese baseball teams.. So a lot of people think the “World Series” should be called the “American Series” as baseball is played in other countries as well like Korea, China and of course Japan. If these teams were involved then if would truly be a “World Series”.
Nevertheless, bravo Red Sox. One more win.

Now here’s something really stupid that I read about in the Daily Yomiuri. No doubt the jerk politicians must have something to do with it. Of all the dumb ideas couldn’t they have thought of something better to spend money on a museum to commemorate.
Matsuzaka is only 26 years old. Most likely he’s only got about ten pieces of baseball gear. Who the hell wants to see his first glove or his baby pictures. I can understand if it was a superstar who had a great career like Babe Ruth or Mickey Mantle. But Dice-K? Get with it Mr. Ohe.
Hokkaido city eyes museum to cash in on Matsuzaka's ancestral roots
ASAHIKAWA — Boston Red Sox hurler Daisuke Matsuzaka is being wooed in an effort to secure his approval for a plan to build a museum to display his baseball gear. In May, some residents of the northernmost Japanese city of Wakkanai organized a group, headed by Yasuyuki Ohe, vice president of the Wakkanai athletics association, to help establish the museum to be named "Matsuzuka Kinenkan."

The Red Sox are doing it again. Back to their old tricks of screwing up after the All Star game. They had a 12 game lead over the Yankees at one time but now it’s down to 7. They’re losing more than they’re winning. I don’t think all star Matsuzaka will even be able to help them out.
Oh well I shouldn’t be all that negative about it. They still have time to smarten up and get it back together. 7 games is still a pretty significant lead. If Beckett and Matsuzaka get their pitching sharpened up a bit (they’ve both won 12 games!) and if the hitters do a little more batting practice they could still pull it out. So, I’m not giving up all hope yet

Amanda Beard is an American Gold Medalist swimmer. Anybody ever heard of her? I hadn’t until today. She’s making headlines. You know why? She’s going to pose nude in Playboy magazine. I therefore checked out some photos of her at http://www.celebrityhack.com/amanda-beard-playboy-july-2007/pictures-964-5/
I was a bit shocked. She’s only 25 but she looks about 35. So I wondered; could she on anabolic steroids like so many other athletes? I don’t know, but she sure doesn’t look 25. She’s quite popular in America having been photographed in Maxim and FHM both men’s magazines. She has even stated that she likes to swim naked in her private backyard pool.
I suppose some people will think it’s a terrible thing to pose nude in Playboy. Others will be delighted to see Amanda shedding her suit. There has been a lot of controversy over certain people posing for Playboy. I’ve seen a lawyer’s pictorial, Of course the Dallas Cowboys cheer leaders pictorial but that’s to be expected. The most controversial was the police woman who posed some years back. She got fired I believe and wasn’t there a court case about that one? I forget but I do remember there was a big to do about it.
Anyways how many of you will be running to Kinokuniya if you’re in Japan or any newsstand in U.S. to get the July issue of Playboy? She’ll be on the cover so you won’t miss it.

So today is Thursday April 5 it is now 11:16 pm. That means about 3 hours from now Dice-K will be throwing his first pitch as a member of the Boston (my home town) Red Sox. Can you imagine the pressure that will be on that boy in a few hours? I can, 110 million dollars worth of pressure. When he was asked about the pressure earlier today he stated, “I’m ready.”
Here in Japan I didn’t hear much talk about the Red Sox until this year. Three years ago a few people, besides real sports fans, knew about them because they won the world series. But today Red Sox is almost a household word. All because of a 26 year old rich kid called Dice-K.
